Tuition Payment and Refund Policy for the woodworking classes

PFW requires a non-refundable 50% deposit for each class upon registration, but not less than $175, and payment in full is due not less than 30 days before the first class. Refunds are issued only if the canceling student’s slot is filled, and are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. In the event that a student is required to miss a class, it may be possible to schedule some make-up time, depending upon the student’s and the instructor’s schedules. This is at the discretion of PFW.   Credit cards are accepted by telephone.

In the event that a course is canceled by PFW, a full refund will immediately be issued.

Safety Policies

The safety of all participants is the primary consideration of PFW. All students will be required to follow the instructor’s directions at all times. Any student who works in an unsafe manner or fails to follow an instructor’s direction may be asked to leave PFW immediately. Under this circumstance, a tuition refund is solely at the discretion of PFW.

Woodworking is an inherently dangerous process. Each student will be given a form of General Release of Liability upon initial registration and will be required to promptly sign and return it to the Studio, a standard practice of all craft schools. A sample of this Release available for examination upon request.

Storage of Ongoing Project Materials

Solely on a “space available” basis, project materials may be stored at PFW during the term of the course only. PFW accepts no responsibility for theft or damage of a student’s materials, hardware, tools or other property stored at PFW.

Tools, Handtools, Sharpening

PFW is well equipped with power tools and the safe use of these tools by the students is permitted. Each student is encouraged to have his or her own handtools, such as measuring and marking devices, chisels, planes, hand saws, etc.  PFW has some handtools available for student use. A detailed list of handtools for each course is available upon request, and is sent out with course registration materials.

PFW has a complete sharpening center, generously supported by Shapton Stones, and by Toolsforworkingwood.com and Norton Abrasives.  Careful student use is permitted.   PFW stocks for sale a range of Shapton sharpening stones and accessories.  A price list is available upon request.

PFW supplies consumables as part of the course tuition, including adhesives, abrasives, etc.

Each student is required to bring his or her own hearing protection and eye protection, and dust protection, if desired.
